Treatment Options For Venous Diseases



While spider veins may not cause any physical discomfort or pain, they may become
cosmetically unappealing as shades of red, blue, and purple begin to spread across a patient’s skin.

Additionally, they are still a medical condition, even if a patient is asymptomatic.
Thus, sclerotherapy is a commonly performed treatment. During the procedure, a physician will
inject a sclerosant, or chemical solution, into the affected area to irritate the vein walls. As a
result, those walls will begin to collapse in on themselves, thereby rerouting blood flow to
adjacent, healthier veins.
